Black Teas

indian masala chai

The aromas wafting out of this cup are fantastic, spicy enough to wake you up before you even take a sip.

“Masala Chai” simply means “mixed-spice tea,” and across North India it can be found in countless local secret-recipe variations. The most common combination is cinnamon, cardamom, clove, nutmeg, and black pepper. These five spices, sometimes called “panch masala” (literally “five mixed-spice”), also provided the name for exotically-spiced fruit “punch” and are ubiquitous in Indian cooking, especially sweets.

CHINESE YUNNAN: Organic IMPERIAL BLACK

Small, tightly rolled leaves with golden tips produce a dark, sweet and fragrant cup. This tea is earthy yet very smooth, with a honey aroma and smoky-caramel flavor profile. This tea makes an exceptional milk-and-sugar breakfast cup, or a fantastic iced tea.

This tippy variety is from a cultivated bush, typically less than 6 feet tall, of exceptional quality – a tea perfected through ancient tradition.

Green Teas

Morrocan Mint

This “double-mint” green tea will draw your attention with a strong amber cup bursting with flavor.

Two kinds of mint create a complex profile, and this blend is generous with both spearmint and peppermint – when sipped this tea produces a great cooling effect on the palate and the entire body.

This tea is at its best with sugar, you may also enjoy it with honey. Try it iced with lemon and a few fresh mint leaves, a perfect summer refreshment.

Chinese Zhejiang Gunpowder Green Tea

This classical green tea is very similar to the last, comparatively a little more mild, warm and sweet, but still that same time-honored Pingshui flavor profile.  Abundant and robust, with sweet slightly smoky aroma and strong almond tones followed by bamboo and grapefruit, its slightly less powerful yet still very crisp astringency lingers with subtle melon and apple notes long after each sip.

Herbal Teas

Winter blend

A soothing, head-clearing tea with many benefits. The ginger is zesty and warming, and not overly dominant. Ginger is known to strengthen the immune system, aid in digestion, and improve respiratory conditions. The orange peel combined with the ginger creates a crisp, citrusy smell that enlivens the senses.

Mint helps to speed and ease digestion. Eucalyptus provides decongestant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

The recommended steeping time is 4 to 6 minutes and could go to 8 minutes depending on taste.

This tea is caffeine free.

Chamomile Orange

A delicious pairing of two lovely flowers, with bright orange complimenting both. When steeped shortly, the infusion is golden and fragrant with soothing chamomile blossoms, a stomach tonic, and sleep aid. Steep it longer to really get the most out of the orange peel and hibiscus – the liquid becomes more red and succulent, with strong lingering cranberry notes.

Chamomile begins to turn bitter if steeped too long. A squeeze of lemon and a little honey or sugar amplify sweet and sour flavors of hibiscus and orange and also compliment the minty-cool chamomile. Try it iced as a relaxing summer refreshment.

This tea is caffeine free.
