Background

This washed processed coffee comes to us from our friends at De La Finca traders and from the Guji district of Oromia region.  We love finding a fruit-forward Ethiopian coffee that can demonstrate the exotic flavors of a typical African coffee flavor profile.

Flavor Profile

This is a fun, fruity coffee with a medium acidity.  As a washed processed coffee, this won't have the edginess that a natural coffee would have but doesn't sacrifice much on the depth of flavor.  It has a berry, raspberry and blueberry aroma and taste with a light, sweet, mildly floral and honey flavor with a juicy finish.

Where This Coffee Works

Ethiopian coffee fans will often look for either a very light, tea-like and sharp flavor profile or a fruit-forward profile like this coffee.  Typically they will prefer natural processed coffee for the extra depth of flavor and zip of acidity but sometimes a washed coffee can be as much of a treasure as a natural.  We think this is a coffee worth trying if you're even casually curious about what a fruity African coffee tastes like but don't think it's a bad option for any African coffee fan out there.
