What's New - April 1st, 2018
Last week we saw two new beans head our way. First some Sumatran beans from the Aceh region in Indonesia and some fresh new Costa Rican beans from the Alajuela region.
Both of these beans will be offered as single origin roasts plus we took some of our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans and combined them with the darker Sumatran roast to create the Charlsetown blend.
SINGLE ORIGIN MEDIUM ROAST: COSTA RICAN EL POETA #1
Costa Rican beans are a popular choice for espresso, French press, pour over or cold brew preparation. This Costa Rican roast has a slight citrus note coupled with a gentle sweetness and cinnamon notes.
DARK ROAST: INDONESIAN BENER MERIAH SUMATRAN #2
Our darkest offering is this Sumatran roast grown in the Aceh region of Indonesia. These beans are a great introduction to Sumatran beans for first time Sumatran drinkers. This roast has a very low acidity, providing a smooth, easy to drink cup. Like all Sumatran beans, though, the taste gets a bit earthy and smoky at points coupled with a slightly sweet, cherry flavor.
The Charlestown Blend
The Charlestown blend is a Maple Leaf Coffee Roasters creation which combines a lighter Ethiopian roast with a darker Sumatran roast. The lighter roasted Ethiopian beans provide a light, sweet, almost buttery taste is paired with the smooth, rich, smoky flavors of the Sumatran roast to create a unique and satisfying flavor.
